More than what I asked.

When I said, Lord, be my strength.

He said, I have already strengthened you.

He gave me the strength for today and for tomorrow. He gave me a stronger faith. He gave me my love–my other half– to help me. A greater man that I could have dreamed up. It was more than what I could have imagined.

When I said, I need a job.

He said, Here it is.

And it was better than what I asked. Better pay. Better position. Better location.

When I said, I need food for today.

He said, Here it is.

And it was better than what I asked. The Lord took me out to breakfast. He took me out to lunch. He treated me to coffee and brunch.

When I said, I don’t have money for gas.

He said, Here it is.

It was more than what I needed. It was a blessing, and it was a gift.

When I said, I can’t pay these bills.

He said, I have already provided.

And he gave me a friend who helped me in my need, more than what I could have asked for, more than what I imagined.

When I said, I need a place to live.

He said, Here it is.

And it was more than what I asked. It was a place to live, a place to relax, a place that is close to my job.

When I said, I want to speak in English!

He said, Here is your friend, Mallory.

And we talked and my heart was comforted.

When I said, I need an English-speaking church!

He said, I have one prepared for you.

And he invited me. He prepared a way for me.

When I said, I don’t want to be alone on Thanksgiving.

He said, You will not be alone.

And he gave me a friend and her family and the joy of looking forward to spending the holiday with new friends.

When I said, I need a friend.

He said, I have one for you.

And he gave me a friend in Rocío, a young woman at my church.

When I said, Lord, I need you.

He said, Here I am.

And he played my song on the radio, and he showed up during worship at CFNI. He was with me and he comforted me. He was my help and he was all I needed.

When I said, Lord, don’t leave me.

He said, Never.
