Hugs make my heart full.

Something special happens when you hug far-away, met-on-the-net friends for the first time

and worship in the same place together.

It’s a surreal joy to sit around one table with 18 internet friends — talking, laughing, and sharing life and french fries.

It’s hard to explain and hard to understand if you aren’t a part of something like this — this something I struggle to describe. Tam said it perfectly when she said these friendships are just like pen pals but for a new generation.

And meeting them face-to-face, it’s filling the spaces between words with hugs. It’s placing a twitter name with a laugh. It’s a conversation that isn’t limited to 140 characters. It’s taking a picture with a friend right next to you instead of taking a picture for a friend to show them what’s next to you. It’s the embodiment of joy, laughter, and friendship of the heart.

And today, my heart is full. Let’s do this again sometime.

  1. I guess I know what you felt that day. One day I had that experience, and it was kind of weird to me, but if you meet the right people, it’s ok 🙂
