Supposedly, there is no social life at a community college. People are always doing their own thing. What chance is there really for meeting new people? In the 2 weeks that I’ve been going to community college, I’ve come across a few secrets.

] Become a regular at a coffee shop. Marvelous start to your morning, and someone to notice when you in fact did not get a haircut.

] Buy books, then return books, then buy new books. The guy at the bookstore is sure to notice that you just came in last week. He might even remember that you are a student of French.

] Partner yoga exercises. You’ll become very intimate with persons whom you may never have thought to talk to when doing awkward yoga poses with them.

] Ride the elevator. Forget the stairs! This mode of transporting to the 2nd floor increases your doses of large groups of friends and silent awkwardness for the day, especially when that guy never fails to point out, “Well, I guess we’re going to level 2.” (that’s the only floor you can go to.)

] Seek other christians. Look for SPU/Northwest U lanyards, sweatshirts, and bball hats. When someone asks “Are you Grecian?” in an odd accent, assume that he is asking “Are you a Christian,” because he probably is. Arguing about doctrine is not advised.
